- 2. Once upon a time… In early 2008, Nate Mook and Myke Nahorniak, Localist’s founders, were in Los Angeles for a conference. Afterwards, they wanted to go out to a cool bar in town. Myke and Nate, happy because they’re about to go to a cool bar.
- 3. Unfortunately… At the time, there was no way to see where the truly great places were, and equally important, where everyone else at the conference was planning to go.
- 4. Localist was born from that problem Localist started as a destination site, serving as a resource for metropolitan areas to help people discover: •All the events that were happening •Who was going •What was going on right now 4
- 5. Despite huge interest from audiences in our launch cities… Creating and curating content was an ongoing challenge. Missing just a single event made keeping visitors returning a challenge. 5
- 6. That’s when we decided to license Localist to our customers • They know what events to publish • They don’t have the resources to build a calendar to manage events as robustly as they manage other content 6
- 7. We realized Localist could be put to amazing use by universities We’re now helping over 700,000 students find events on campus.
