- Pretty straight forward. Azure is Microsoft cloud platform offering to compete with Google, Amazon, etc. It is being incredibly aggressive in this area constantly adding services and upgrading the service.Recently it reduced the prices to match and even beat Amazon and Google.
- Azure delivers a 99.95% monthly SLA and enables you to build and run highly available applications without focusing on the infrastructure. It provides automatic OS and service patching, built in network load balancing and resiliency to hardware failure. It supports a deployment model that enables you to upgrade your application without downtime.
- Azure enables you to easily scale your applications to any size. It is a fully automated self-service platform that allows you to provision resources within minutes. Elastically grow or shrink your resource usage based on your needs. You only pay for the resources your application uses. Azure is available in multiple datacenters around the world, enabling you to deploy your applications close to your customers.What’s nice about this is you can add resources when you anticipate heavy load (CEO keynote on your portal, morning loads, etc), then pull-back after the load has passed.

- The services that Azure offers fall into the following brackets: Computation, Data, Networking, Applications, and store (though store isn’t really a service).
- Computing services allows you to spin servers up very quickly. You can deploy Linux as well as Microsoft servers.To create a web site, you can start from scratch or select from many templates. Web sites can be managed using clients such as WebMatrix, VisualStudio, etc.
