» SolarWinds set out to measure the rapidly evolving
  nature of the systems administrators in the US
» We captured their thoughts on life inside and
  outside of the workplace to understand who they
  are and what drives them
» 401 US-based sysadmins took part in the survey
  conducted by RedShift Research in October 2012

         more with less. But nevertheless, 75% find their work more satisfying.

            least somewhat appreciated. However, only around one in five describe their
                          jobs as highly enjoyable & feel highly appreciated.

           Sysadmins believe budgets will likely remain flat. 38% expect no change from
            2012. 30% anticipate some growth vs. 23% who expect decline. The overall
                             effect suggests a net growth of only 0.3%.

             half say that this is not usually adequate at their organization).
     However, as many as one third are not convinced they have access to adequate
                     tools/software/hardware to perform effectively.

             The top source of information when faced with a challenge varies widely, from
              asking colleagues to searching the internet, but no single source is dominant.
