2. A Different World
Job search and career management have changed dramatically in the last 5 years and the crisis has only
reinforced the trend.
Did you know that...
• In 2008, 80% of companies used linkedin as the primary source of recruitment (Jobvite social
recruitment survey) and learners today will have changed of company 10-14 times (US department of
labor) by the age of 38.
• The number of ads on job boards has decreased: in 2008, only 12% of jobs came from job boards (8th
annual source of hire study 2009). Where did the 88% left come from?
• Almost half of the UK's workforce could be self-employed within five years (Guardian Oct 2006).
It is a brand new world!
So what is a CV in 2010?

reverse chronological order. You show where
you have been and what you did

probably the last dinosaur in the job search
Principles section
• Daddy networking = You rely on your close
• Job security and long time employment network especially your family and friends
• You are your job title and your company
• Job ads are the main way of recruiting
• Importance of corporate brands
• Full-time employment is the preferred option
• Only a couple of experts are recognized in
their industry
