- 2. Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs The Maslow model dates back to 1943. Based on five levels of motivation arranged as a hierarchy, it assumes that needs must be satisfied at a lower level before someone can progress to the next. It also states that people will ‘regress’ if a lower level need is no longer met. However, there is little evidence to support this view of personality.
